Your gift for the right thing and a nicer Easter - Tomislav Špoljar Varždin. Croatia
This year, the students and employees of the COO Tomislav Špoljar showed a big heart and collected a lot of food and hygiene items for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Association. Groceries and necessities were painstakingly collected, sorted, and finally handed over by students attending Civic Education classes. This is a valuable volunteering experience for them.

Competition, sports and fun in Vienna on March 29, 2023 - Schoool Games
Schoool Games 2023
Competition, sports and fun in Vienna on March 29, 2023.
More than 100 students with disabilities from eleven schools participated in the table tennis tournament and bocce ball tournament. Sport and exercise for all - the Schoool Games in Vienna were a great success again this year.
After all the active participants had gathered in the sports hall, it was time to start the Schoool Games. Boccia requires full concentration and physical effort.
Behind a thick partition to the boccia talents there are seven table tennis tables just waiting to be played on. The children and young people lost no time and get going. Everywhere you look there was eager play, tactics, cheering or shaking their heads in despair. ÖBSV mascot Flappy mingles with the athletes, high-fives the winners and comforts the unlucky ones. The ORF captures the great atmosphere in moving pictures, the loud boccia fans are in good voice even after several hours of action.
Proud winners and the crowning of great performances
After several hours of intense sport, the shiny medals have well deserved their new owners. To thunderous applause from the other students, the top finishers collect their honours and a cloth mascot each.
FIDS10 table tennis team (Mohammad, Nibir, Carina and Omulbanin) with two third places and one-2nd place.
All participants had been assigned enormously strong opponents in their preliminary rounds. However, Mohammad, Nibir and Carina managed to advance to the semi-finals via the intermediate rounds. In the team duel between Mohammad and Nibir, Nibir could prevail and qualify for the final. Against last year's tournament winner, however, no set win was possible despite a very good performance. Since the third places were not played, Mohammad reached the excellent 3rd place. After Nibir had taken the third place last year, he succeeded in a further increase and he rewarded for his performance with the 2nd place this year.
The excellent 2nd place for Carina came as a surprise. In the final, she only had to admit defeat to the outstanding winner of the past three years in a highly dramatic final with 10:12/1:11 and 6:11.
FIDS10 bocce team with the tournament victory (Habiba, Hassina, Velina, Caroline and Treasure)
After the absence of some players, the two teams had to be re-formed by the coaches, which proved to be an absolute stroke of luck in the further course of the tournament in the constellation of Caroline and Treasure. After a bumpy start in the first round, the two of them went on a brilliant run of success that could not be stopped by their opponents even in the final match. This gave Caroline and Treasure the first tournament win for FIDS10 in boccia.
We would like to thank all the students who participated in the Schoool Games with joy and enthusiasm, all the teachers who registered and accompanied their protégés and all those who helped to organize this wonderful morning.

March WITH BLUE BALLOONS - dr. Ljudevita Pivka Ptuj, Slovenia
On Tuesday, March 21, we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day in Ptuj with a march with blue balloons.
We colored the city with blue balloons and hearty smiles. On the Town Square in front of the town hall, we prepared a short cultural program with musical performances by students - a choir, a dance and a drum group. As every year, we were joined this year by the mayor of Ptuj Municipality, Mrs. Nuška Gajšek, who herself wore two different socks. The slogan of this year's day is "With us, not for us" and carries a message about the desire for inclusion and active participation in the community. Having Down syndrome means having something more. Not just an extra chromosome in every cell of the body, but also an extra pinch of tenderness, light and infinite, different beauty. Anyone who takes the time to get to know people with Down syndrome notices this. This year's march was also joined by our partners from the GET TO KNOW US project from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Germany, Austria and Croatia. |

On 13th of December our penfriends from Heide, Germany visited Vienna for a week. On Tuesday they came to our school and spend the day with us. In the morning they spend some time to get to know each other, especially their penfriend. Afterwards a group started in the kitchen with Mario to bake some christmas cookies, so called Vanillekipferl. The other group handicrafted a snowman made of a white sock and rice inside with Silvia. For relaxing our gym teacher Peter built a sports parcour in our gym which was really funny. The students were exhausted and hungry after this sporty time. So we all had some pizzas for lunch together. We all had a great time together and it was really nice to meet our german penfriends face to face.
